Abscess: The only things that live in the male pelvis are: 1) bladder and 2) rectum. There should be no fluid collection outside of the bladder (normal), but with gas in it, usually represents an abscess. This usually represents a perforation or fistula from the rectum, or post-operative leak after rectal surgery. Depending on the cause, the treatment can be drainage through the rectum or open surgery
