Some babies just do: Not that uncommon for me to see babies suck on there hands. More common if they don't take a pacifier. It's just a coping mechanism to help calm themselves down

Expect to: Babies lips are lined with millions of pleasure producing sensors that provide the instinct to latch and feed long before the know what hunger is. These pleasure sensors persist, and are an early means of self soothing in babies. As they mature they develop other interests, but this must fade on its own.
