Easy to test for: Hi. The key things to test for are: blood calcium, blood phosphate, kidney function, vitamin D levels, PTH, and 24-hour urinary calcium. If your blood calcium, urinary calcium, & PTH are high, you have primary hyperparathyroidism (HPT). If blood calcium is low or normal and PTH is high, you have secondary HPT. If blood calcium and PTH are low, you have hypoparathyroidism. Kidney disease caveats.
