HbA1c: This is a blood test that tells the doctor how well your blood sugar has been controlled over the last 3 months. If you had a high fasting sugar and your A1c is very high then you will know that you have diabetes and it is not well-controlled. If you have a low / normal A1c then you probably just starting to develop diabetes and can treat it with diet and exercise first.
