Abcess?: It is possible to develop an abcess following an acutely infected throat. Often the pain is one sided and becomes progressively worse. There may be a bulge of the area of the tonsils on the affected side. If this happens or you develop signs or symptoms of a more progressive infection - return of fever, nausea, chills, etc -you should seek treatment without delay.
