Can a varicocele be detected via an ultrasound??

Yes: Varicocele can be detected on ultrasound or physical exam. Varicoceles can cause scrotal pain or infertility. Choices to treat varicoceles: surgery or embolization. Embolization has advantages of being completely nonsurgical and can identify collateral vessels (that surgery can't address) and therefore embolization has a lower recurrence rate. Embolization performed by Interventional Radiologist
