A member asked:

How long can early labor last? i'm 36 weeks and three days. went to hospital with contractions five minutes apart and only dilated 1 cm.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not labor: If you are not dilating, you are not in labor. You really don't want to be in labor at 36 weeks anyway. If you are dehydrated, you will have contractions. They don't so anything but they can be pretty painful. So, if you are having contractions, you should assume you are dehydrated. Lay down and drink lots of water. Real labor won't stop.
