Not active labor: At term, most physicians recommend patients go to the hospital once they are having regular contractions, at least every 10 minutes, that have continued in that pattern for at least 1-2 hours and are perceived as getting stronger. Actual labor occurs only when there is cervical change--thus, that is what is evaluated on labor and delivery. As long as the baby continues to move well, await labor.
