A member asked:

Just a general question. can the left side of your heart be smaller than the right. assuming thickness, and the heart function is normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Shouldn't be: Outside of a short period late in gestation, the left heart should always be bigger than the right. Any deviation from that is considered abnormal and should be investigated, as it may reflect a malformation, valvular heart disease, heart muscle injury or failure or significant pulmonary disease.
