Worried: While the reference range is set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside, it disturbs me when a man who's only 18 has an ALT this high. What was your AST/SGOT? Why did you write that you have "cirrhosis of the liver?" If you've been to a few beery parties lately, this is the likely explanation. Perhaps you can cut the drinking back and get retested.

Mild ALT elevation: Alcohol usually causes AST elevation. Ask your doctor to do full liver test panel. Your Alt is going down. I would not worry if all other liver tests are normal. In any case do not drink more than one drink a day even if your liver tests are normal.
