See answer : Most common complications of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) include: failure to completely fragment the stone or fragment(s) too big to pass that gets "stuck" in the ureter requiring additional procedures; obstruction of kidney and/or pain from stone fragments passing or getting "stuck" in ureter; blood in the urine; infection; and bleeding around the kidney.
