Pain from sciatica: usually radiates to front of lower leg, not calf. If you are having pain in calf, it could be herniated disc or even worse a blood clot. It is best to have a doctor examine you.

Absolutely: The sciatic nerve is a collection of smaller nerves, each one divides and covers a part of the lower leg. We can tell which nerve in the spine is affected by the area of pain patients describe. This is called a dermatome. Sensations can be tingling, burning, numb, shooting, sharp, or all of them together. If you experience weakness or foot drop go immediately to an ED.
