It can be treated: Most meniscal tears are not repaired unless they are simple and located in an area that has a high success rate of healing. 2-3 weeks out from injury, most likely just the piece of the meniscus that is torn will be removed. It is possible to make the tear worse with activity, but many people live and walk around with meniscal tears, it just depends on how symptomatic they are.
