Stay the course: Sores on the lips, the border of the mouth, and inside the mouth will turn white on the edges. The tissue lining the edge will eventually slough off. Do not pick or pull at the edges to hurry it along. You are doing well to keep it protected. Avoid hot liquids or spicy foods. This too will pass.
