I felt a big under the skin spot on the edge of my lip. it took a couple of days to form and it eventually have a head with puss. i popped the spot which did have puss coming out of it however it did have clear fluid coming out of it. cold sore?

Probably a pimple and not herpes (cold sore). Herpes lesions are superficial, whereas pimples start deeper and then come to a head. Think of herpes as starting "on" the skin, whereas pimples start "in" the skin. The clear fluid isn't important: clear fluid almost always can be squeezed out of a pimple (or any skin sore) once pus itself has drained.
