Usually nerve: Pain after amputation is usually related to the nerves being cut. Medical Evaluation to determine if this is the case and medications targeting nerve related pain are the best course if action.

Need a surgical eval: A traumatic crushing amputation can cause scarring around nerves resulting in chronic pain. Your best bet is surgical revision to remove the damaged tissue and scar around the nerves of the finger. These types of injuries tend to stay painful and do not improve with time.
