Worrisome: In a healthy, early pregnancy, the HCG level should increase by at least 50% every 48 hours. The combination of bleeding and a dropping HCG level indicates a miscarriage is likely. However a miscarriage is frequently a process rather than a moment in time. It may take days or weeks to complete. Its best to get guidance from your Ob during this time. Best wishes!
