Is it possible for loss of circulation in a limb to require an amputation?

Yes.: Not enough circulation causes death of muscle tissue, when the muscle dies, it will not 'heal' and is a feeding ground for infections, causing sepsis. It is an emergency to cut the extremity before the body and organs are compromised by this infection.
