Edema: Is the whole stump swollen or just a firm area at the end. Is the opposite limb swollen how long ago was the amputation? Without more information i can't really advise in this tiny space so i suggest you see your doctor or a pm and r specialist.

Many possibilities: Some causes of swelling of the lower extremities can include systemic problems such as hypertension, gout, and problems with the kidneys and localized issues such as arthritis, infection, lymphatic obstruction, blood clots, varicose veins, trauma (fracture, sprain, and tendonitis, surgery) and side effects to medication. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Many possibilities: It is difficult to say without knowing more details but stump swelling is common. One of the most effective treatments is using a compression sock or shrinker. These should not be used unless recommended by a physician as using it too soon after surgery might cause problems.
