A member asked:

Why do palivizumab injections cost so much?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

An antibody for RSV: Synagis (palivizumab) is a medication that is made of antibodies to a virus called rsv. Making a pure solution of such a molecule is very complex and costly. A shot of synagis (palivizumab) gives the recipient instant but partial protection from the worst severity of RSV infection, for young infants and so is used in prematures and infants with lung diseases.
