Side effect possible: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and melatonin could make a purpose MORE tired and sleepy which could translate into being groggy in the morning thought for all practical purposes, 1 mg. of melatonin is an extremely small amount. Then, again, I don't know anything about your build, your weight, other medications you are taking, etc. etc. so perhaps FOR YOU....1 mg. of melatonin is more than what it may sound.

With caution: Although technically no drug-drug interactions are listed for the 2, both cause sedation & might have an additive effect. Be sure how the combination will affect you before operating machinery or driving. People have been cited for dui from Benadryl (diphenhydramine) alone.

Yes: But, if you are taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to help with sleep, there are better medications.

Yes: But both have sedative properties and can lead to some hangover effects in the morning if taken for sleep, take as low a dose of melatonin as possible, 90min before desired sleep time.

No it shouldn't: You can take both together. There should not be any problems taking both medications together even if you use it as sleeping aide. Make sure you don't take more the the recommended otc dose.
