Duration ?: Brief pauses of up to 15 seconds are common in sleep and of little importance. An 8 yo who is snoring at the time may have some sleep issues but these usually decline with age. If the 3 yo is snoring, it will likely worsen and consideration of tonsil and or adenoid removal is justified. If either has prolonged pauses > 20 sec, evaluation for sleep apnea should be undertaken.
