Septum absent: The septum pellucid is a non nervous structure in the midline between the lateral ventricles of the brain. It's absence suggests a congenital birth defect that may well be associated w/ the hydrocephalus. Have they diagnosed the cause of her hydro? Wouldn't expect it: The presence or absence of this structure would not change the basic job of the NS which is to treat the hydrocephalus. The information you need on the significance of this finding should be directed to your pediatrician, a developmental pediatrician or geneticist. In short, some do well in spite of the defect, some have many associated problems.
