No you cannot: there are many good pain management medications available for acute or chronic use. Talk to your PCP for more information and medication adjustment for your needs. Take care.

May need a holiday: You can try a "holiday" by not taking the medication for several days, depending on the severity of the pain for which you are taking it. There are some other mild analgesics, such as tramadol, that you may be able to take without aggravating your gastritis. There are also selective COX2 inhibitor NSAIDs like Celebrex (celecoxib) that can provide relieft without bothering your stomach.
