Boxers fracture: Common injury as described is a metacarpal fracture most commonly the 5th metacarpal. You need x rays and possible casting or open reduction and plating. Seek care with hand surgeon. Possible sagital band injury as well.

See your doctor: It sounds like the force and results on your hand seem more like a fracture than a bad bruise and you need to see a doctor who will likely order an :-|ray.
