How frequently does a bad gallbladder come back with tests saying it is fine?

Gallbladder Problems: I you have a bad gallbladder surgery is the only reliable treatment. The symptoms may come and go but will likely never go away. Avoiding fatty or greasy foods will help minimize the symptoms. Spicy and protein rich foods may also cause problems. There are treatments with medicines that do not work all that well and are usually only used for persons who are not surgical candidates.

Not uncommon: I frequently see people with normal lab and X-ray tests who still have GB disease. Many of these people with typical GB symptoms get better after GB removal.
