Tx. For Shingles: Usually one to two weeks depending on how it is treated. Antiviral medication have been shown to helpful at speeding recovery. Also medications used to treat nerve pain such as lyrica, (pregabalin) Neurontin and several others can be helpful at managing the pain. If your pain continues after the lesions have healed you should be evaluated for a condition called post-herpetic neuralgia.

Depends: It really depends on how badly injured the nerve is and how long it takes for the nerve to repair itself. Ballpark figure between 3 to 6 months and in certain conditions -- never.
