VZV: It is not known why this virus produced recurrent disease in some and not others. You might try getting the varicella vaccine and seeing if this does not reduce the incidence and severity of your outbreaks. Best, and hope this helps.

Stress?: Autoimmune disorders like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ulcerative colitis, or Lupus also predispose to recurrent shingles. Some people are just more prone to recurrence. Not to mention stress....I would consider suppressive therapy. Talk to a dermatologist for advice.
