Embrace it: Ask about a topical anesthetic, but... Getting a tattoo is one of the most personal and precious choices you will ever make. I have two, both intensely meaningful to me. I would not trade the pain that they cost me for any pleasure that I can imagine. If you do not feel this way about what you are considering, then don't do it.
