A member asked:

Can you tell me how the nervous system get rid of chemicals that infiltrated it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sometimes tough: For example, intervention by drugs and procedures may be necessary to eliminate lead or arsenic. Sometimes dialysis or plasmapheresis is necessary. Our livers can detoxify some chronic ingestions, but not always rapidly, and may take weeks to months to eliminate bad chemicals. Best bet is prevention, and if foreign chemicals arrive, get immediate medical attention.
