A member asked:

What age is too old to have a child?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on situation: As long as you are still ovulating you can have kids.Any pregnancy has at least 4% risk of unexpected issues, including birth defects, prematurity or other problems. To that basic risk you must add that of your health & the increased in chromosome defects with age.At 44 your Down syndrome risk rises to 1%. Talk with a genetic counselor to understand your specific risks (includes dad)
