What to do if i'm 73 yrs old male. i'm a type 2 diabetic. i'm taking amaaryl 2 mg daily twice. gaining weight. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Weight gain: Hi. Sulfonylurea drugs, of which Amaryl is one, generally cause weight gain. I suggest you discuss treatment with metformin, Victoza (liraglutide) (or Byetta/Bydureon), Invokana (or Farxiga) or a combination thereof with your doctor. Those drugs don't cause the weight gain, and some of them even cause weight loss. Drugs in the Januvia class are also weight neutral, but don't pack much punch.
