Normally, some transient forgetfulness or declining focus is seen, but the memory trace can be recalled after a time, but the abnormal has no capacity to retrieve. Hardening of arteries affects brain, and may cause stroke or cognitive damage. Only half of seniors by age 85 have dementia.
