A member asked:

What number of anaesthetic injections would someone require to have a molar root canal carried out?

Depends: Which area upper or lower, how thick the jaw bone is, whether tooth is acutely inflamed, patient's experience and tolerance level. We usually are generous with anesthetic for a molar root canal - typically 2 cartridges

Pain control : Achieving profound pulpal anesthesia and pain control is a goal in root canal treatment. 2-3 cartridge with 2% lidocaine with 1:100,000 epinephrine for the molar root canal is necessary average. In "hot: cases the maximum safe dose of anesthetic that patient can receive is 7-8 cartridges.
