Persistence Works: "How can I get newborn to take breast? Initiating newborn feeding can be challenging. Newborns must learn to coordinate sucking with swallowing which takes practice and time. Continue to offer your breast at regular intervals every 2-3 hrs for 15- 20 min. Sleep when your baby sleeps so that you are rested which also improves your patience. Baby's appetite will progress daily which will also help.
