A1c: Hi. A1c is the means we use to assess diabetes control. A1c is a number that reflects your average blood glucose over the last 3 months. Keeping A1c as low as safely possible in the 6's on a chronic basis correlates with low risk of eye, kidney, nerve, and heart attack complications (blood pressure also plays a role in kidney, eye, & heart complications). Watch for hypoglycemia with good A1c.
