A member asked:

Why would a doctor change enalapril to benazepril when they are both ace inhibitors?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many reasons: There are many possible reasons why a physician may change a medicine, including cost, formulary changes, access, etc. The best strategy is to ask your physician wh changed the medicine. Enalapril is an older generation acei and sometimes these are changed compared to newer generation medications like Benazepril because of improved side effects profile.
