A member asked:

How long does ativan (lorazepam) stay in your system?

6 to 8 hours active: Ativan (lorazepam) is a mid range benzodiazepine with an active period of 6-8 hours of sedation. After 6-8 hours, Ativan passes again through the liver. Now the liver breaks the Ativan into 2 parts- each part has no psycho-active effects. Lower dosages are used for geriatric adults and medically debilitated patients. Their bodies are slower to metabolize Ativan into its 2 inactive parts.
