Many causes: Cough has many causes, some benign and some serious. The most common causes include lung disease/asthma, reflux, and sinonasal disease. Also medications, such as lisinopril, have been shown to cause cough. But also lung tumors cause cough. Persistent cough should be evaluated by a physician to figure out the cause and how to treat it.
