Many causes: Cough has many causes, some benign and some serious. The most common causes include lung disease/asthma, reflux, and sinonasal disease. Also medications, such as lisinopril, have been shown to cause cough. But also lung tumors cause cough. Persistent cough should be evaluated by a physician to figure out the cause and how to treat it.

Mgt: Your PCP will probably order a chest radiograph and TB skin test, along with pulmonary function testing to determine the underlying cause. I agree there are many possible causes. If the cough is wet or productive, this increases the likelihood of an infection.
