Ok with caution: The combination can increase the effect of metoprolol by slowing its metabolism (breakdown) in the liver. Too much metoprolol can cause low blood pressure and low heart rate, with dizziness or fainting as a result. However, 12.5 mg of metoprolol is a low dose, so your doctor may have already taken this into account, & is counting on the paroxetine to increase the beta blocker's effectiveness.
