Depends: Amoxicillin may work, but many antibiotics could work. Make sure you get a urine culture, and the sensitivities will tell you what bug is growing and what would work for it. Being a male, a "UTI" would need more workup by a urologist, so keep that appointment.

Get urine culture: Amoxicillin usually does not work well for Urinary infection. Ciprofloxacin or Levaquin (levofloxacin) is preferred. But first get a urine analysis and culture

May or may not: work depending on the bacteria causing the infection. Will need a urine culture and sensitivity. Also call your doctor and let them know the antibiotic is making you sick. Are you taking the antibiotic with some food on your stomach?
