No guarentees: C. Difficile recurs in 25-35% of cases. Risks for relapse include cdi treatment w/ flagyl, concomitant antibiotics (even a month post cdi treatmnt ), age >65, cancer, renal disease ; previous cdi episodes (ea recurrence increases risk of subsequent relapse). Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is a lower risk but no antibiotic is no risk. If >3 liquid stools/d, fever, cramps, nausea, bloody/mucus stool, call your doc.
