TG: Fibrates have been heavily used to treat hypertriglyceridemia. Most of the times we see it as part of metabolic syndrome, that includes or associates in time, obesity, diabetes or hypertension. Weight control will be critical. Your husband might need a good assessment of his metabolic status and his PCP will be the first person I would recommend talking to.

Lower triglycerides: Regular cardiovascular exercise, low saturated and trans fats in the diet. Avoid fried, deep fried and sauteed foods. When cooking, bake, broil or grill. High fiber - 50 grams daily in divided doses across smaller more frequent meals.
