Chronic pain: Spinal cord stimulation involves a trial followed by a permanent implantation of the stimulator if the trial is successful. The entire process is generally safe but there are small risks of infection, failure to eliminate the pain, spinal fluid leak, blood clot formation, and rarely paralysis.
