Depends: Hyperthyroid alone which is what the ptu (propylthiouracil) is supposed to treat can cause chest and back pain as well so it's difficult to know if the disease or the pill is doing it. Ptu (propylthiouracil) is not a good option for hyperthyroidism. Talk to your doctor about Methimazole instead.
