Yes if needed: Ptu (propylthiouracil) is the treatment for hyperthyroidism. It is very important that hyperthyroidism be well controlled and treated during pregnancy. Not treating it can be dangerous. This is an important medication for patients to take if they have hyperthyroidism in pregnancy.
