Meds, injections.: The usual first-line treatment of osteoarthritis pain is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as Naproxen and others). Opioids (narcotic) drugs have also been shown to be useful. Some people benefit from injection of medicine into the joint. People with ischial bursitis may benefit from sitting only on a well padded seat that takes pressure off of the sore spot.
