Pain may persist: Pain after a compression fracture can persists for a very long time, even years. More important is why the fracture occurred. If a person experiences vertebral fracture with trivial or no trauma, she should be checked for osteoporosis. Treatment of osteoporosis can reduce the risk of future fractures.
