Possible: Most likely thats the cause. But if you loose weight then its not menopausal,,, something serious like cancer is going on.

Possible: Yes, it's possible, especially since your mother went through it early. Your MD can check hormone levels and see. Your symptoms could also be attributed to thyroid disease, so your MD can check that too.
