Ecstacy side effect: A wide variety of somatic sensations are possible after taking ecstacy - and anxiety or upset alone can cause tight feeling in the chest and difficulty taking deep breaths. Other causes are possible. If there is shortness or breath, coughing, fever, or bringing up sputum, it is important to see the doctor right away. If the symptoms are mild, then see the doctor if they do not resolve overnight.
